History
Studio 35 has been your neighborhood theater since 1938. That’s 80+ years of history, so we’ve got loads of stories.
Here’s a few milestones in our journey & a few fun facts:
- Opened as the Indianola Theater on February 17, 1938 showing the movie Stage Door
- Traded hands several times, for a short time even showing “Adult Films” Coo-coo-ca-cho
- Purchased by Frank Marzetti & became Marzetti’s Studio 35. (35 being a reference to 35 mm film)
- Became the first theater in the US to have a license to sell alcohol in the early 1970s.
- Home to several ghosts!
- Current owners, Eric Brembeck & Rita Volpi brought Studio 35 to its current state, with renovations in 2012 (adding the full bar area) and 2019 (adding the second screening room & pizza kitchen). Rita was the mastermind behind fan favorite, popcorn with M&Ms & Eric’s appreciation for The Big Lebowski has grown the DUDE-A-THON to the multi-day fiesta it is today.
